Poetry Events. Robert Browning & Elizabeth Barrett Browning major event part Deptford Heritage Festival

Robert Browning & Elizabeth Barrett . Love, life and poetry.  back due to popular demand in 2016 as it was an extremly popular event last year.  Wikipedia 

 

 

:Members of The Browning Society will read and discuss their favorite poems by  former local residents Robert Browning and Elizabeth Barrett .

Dmitry Usenco will read the passage Book Three of Robert Browning"s "Sordello" begining with the line " John the Beloved,Banished Antioch" .Dmitry will explain why he loves this passage.
Nick Baker will read Robert Browning"s "Halbert and Hob" and other short narrative poems which explore both good and bad aspects of human nature.
April Barrett will introduce and read Elizabeth Barrett Browning poem " to Flush,My Dog" and her sonnet " How do i love thee?".
Jerome Wynter will read two of Elizabeth Barrett Brownings juvenilia -"Leila;A Tail" ( 1822) and an extract from " The African;  A Poem in Two Cantos" ( 1822) .Jerome will describewhat lies behindthese poems, from his research at Birmingham University.
Anyone attending this amazing and very special event, a real treat, is also welcome to read and discuss their favorite poems by Robert or Elizabeth Barrett Browning..
Tickets are £5. Children under 16 are FREE 4 all events.
