South London estate agent signs subverted by I Love Council Houses posters
– February 25, 2014There’s certainly no shortage of estate agent boards polluting the sight lines of south London streets, and although they can make great planters, one activist decided to add a new message to the ones in his area.
All around Edgeley Road and Clapham Manor Street in Clapham North, estate agent signs were subverted with ‘I Love Council Houses’ posters stuck over the advertising boards.
Here’s a selection of photos taken by Roy Reed.

Fabulous….love it.

Don’t see the value in this at all. Why punish people trying to sell their houses? Are they inherently evil because they’ve managed to get on the property ladder and are now deciding to sell? Yes there may be some vendors who might be viewed as ‘greedy property developers’ but I’m imagining the majority are regular, decent people.

Maybe locals are just fed up with corporates being allowed to treat their streets as advertising hoardings?
-
Maybe the people who own the houses want to publicise the fact they’re on the market?

The boards aren’t there for the house sellers – they’re primarily there as advertising space for estate agents, and they’re often nailed up without permission.
Nowadays, people don’t roam the streets on the off chance of finding a ‘for sale’ sign in an area they like – they go online like everyone else and find properties that way.
How would you like it if all your neighbours put up big scenes if they were selling stuff from their homes?

BRILLIANT Idea ! Let’s snowball this all over the capital right up to the elections ! And let’s think of other creative ideas to flood the city !

I think that’s wonderful, local people saying what they love and want, and its colourful too,if it spread it would put more pressure on the govt,it can only be good!
