Lewisham Food Bank is Covered by We Care.

We Care the Food Bank Charity set up by Barbara Raymond and myself, has just won a major food contract, that means we can offer food to every resident in need in Lewisham.
Our New Cross and Deptford Food bank,( read the other posting on this block), is well on track to be feeding 1000 local familes by April.
Sadly the new food people are charging us £1 per family for a food parcel, as 1000 families would mean we would have to pay £52.000 a year, a sum we could clearly not raise in an area as poor as Deptford and New Cross, we will have to charge this to people collecting food parcels from December.
The food bank will remain open 11am-2pm Monday to friday at the Lewisham People Before profit office on New cross Road Deptford.
To find out who can get this food, please read the entry about New Cross and Deptford Food Bank.
Christmas period as always i will be working with Barbara and the team with our Christmas dinner for people on their own, and helping get food aid to residents alone this Christmas across the whole of Lewisham.
I would just like to thank the huge number of Local residents who have offered to help, and the wonderful comments sent to me from people using the food bank. You could weep.
Whilst i agree with some who say it is wrong that we are feeding local people, and that this is the role of the Goverment, the reality is that huge numbers of people are getting into debt just to buy food, others are going without such as pensioners and mums, and the increasing numbers of people i see every week when i am out and about helping people in New Cross and Deptford going through the estate rubbish bins looking for food.
Much of the Work me and Barbara do in New Cross and Deptford is not recorded, as helping people one to one with case work is a private matter, but with 6 Local Lazy Labour Councillors there is not a day in which people do not come to our office for help, and although we do not have any Councillors elected yet, we are still able to use the law and our group knowledge to help huge numbers on so many levels.
